Air Maestro integrates with InterDynamics’ FAID models to help organisations measure and manage fatigue risk directly within Timesheets.
FAID uses input data such as:
Duration and timing of work and rest periods
Time of day of duty and breaks
Work history
Biological constraints on recovery sleep
These inputs feed into a validated biomathematical model (or models), generating a FAID Score which reflects the relative fatigue exposure of a given schedule.
In Air Maestro, these scores are automatically calculated within Timesheets and displayed against each duty entry, allowing organisations to monitor fatigue levels in real time and identify high-risk duties or scheduling patterns.
Overview of available FAID Models
Air Maestro supports three FAID configurations:
1. FAID (Standard)
Based on the FAID Standard Biomathematical Model (BMM)
Produces a FAID Score based on work hours, rest periods, breaks, and time of day
Suitable for operations without time zone transitions
2. FAID TZ
Produces a FAID Score that incorporates time zone and circadian disruption from east–west travel
Useful for long-haul or trans-meridian operations
3. FAID TZ KSS (FAID Quantum)
Produces both FAID Score and Karolinska Sleepiness Scale (KSS) outputs
Includes time zone and circadian modelling for the most comprehensive fatigue prediction
Enabling FAID in Timesheets
To enable FAID in Timesheets, you will need the following access:
Navigate to Site Setup > Operations > Timesheet Setup.
Select a department from the dropdown at the top of the page.
FAID can be enabled for any department, as long as the Timesheets are enabled for it.
In the Timesheet Fields table below, locate the Faid field. Click the pencil icon on the right-hand side to edit the field.
Under Display settings, make sure that at least Display in Summary is checked.
-
In Options underneath, choose the desired FAID:
FAID
FAID TZ
Both (refers to FAID and FAID TZ)
FAID TZ KSS (if this option is greyed out and you wish to select it, contact our Support Desk)
Click Update to confirm your selection.
The selected FAID column will appear in Timesheets for users in the enabled department.
FAQs
-
Will enabling FAID affect past Timesheets or create new breaches?
Yes. If your Work Practice rules monitor FAID Scores, the activated FAID will calculate the scores for existing Timesheet entries; any recalculated values that exceed thresholds will appear as breaches and will trigger a Discretion Report.
-
Can we predict which duties will breach before enabling FAID?
Unfortunately, no. FAID calculates fatigue exposure once it’s enabled.
If you’re concerned about historical breaches, it’s recommended to test the functionality in a non-production / TEST environment.
-
Will enabling FAID affect billing or licensing?
FAID functionality will not impact Air Maestro billing; however, it does require a separate commercial arrangement with InterDynamics prior to activation.
Contact InterDynamics for more information.
